Paul Marxen

Paul has been drawing and painting since he could hold a crayon in his hand. A Chicago-area resident, Paul enjoyed his teen years in Los Alamos, NM where his interests in science, technology, aviation, history and archaeology developed. These can be seen in his art.

He studied fine art at Elmhurst College (IL), the Art Institute of Chicago and in the 1970's received a degree in commercial art from Ray-Vogue School of Design in Chicago.

Paul's art career includes drafting, stage sets, typesetting, catalog design, printing, and thousands of paintings on paper, posters, canvas, fabric, and even bison jawbones.

Paul has won awards at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center's National Arts Program shows in recent years.

Paul's science fiction paintings won many awards at science fiction conventions in the 1970's and 1980's. Participation at EAA AirVenture encouraged Paul in his own space race – to paint many scenes from his perception of space.

Even in his recent series of paintings on Biblical themes, Paul's enjoyment of fantastical themes is evident. Paul's linguistic ability also shows in many of his works.

Paul lives in Oshkosh with his wife Vicki where his paintings can be seen and purchased at Jambalaya Arts, Inc. They have two married daughters and two granddaughters.
